Family holiday let in Carbis Bay, Cornwall
Project type
Garden design and installation
Overview
Created in 2025
Given one of the ugliest combinations of concrete, grass and random shrubs we've seen it was not difficult to see scope for improvement at this moderised bungalow. The clients main objective was to create a large dining and entertainment area beside the kitchen, improve access to the front door from the parking area and include space for children to play in and explore when returning from the beach. We visited some local gardens and quarries and decided to make use of the local slate, sourcing everything from boulders to finer aggregate mulch from a quarry in Bodmin. Its nigh on impossible to find slate flagstones for external use without extreme cost so we used reclaimed Welsh Pennant stone instead. Apart from the lorry travelling from Wales this met our sustainability standards and gave a feel of permanence to the garden.
